International Nursing Personnel Training Project Presentation Conference Held in Sichuan Ya 'an

On March 26, 2015, the International Nursing Personnel Training Project Presentation Conference was successfully held in Ya 'an Vocational and Technical College. This conference was co-sponsored by Chinese Society of Vocational and Technical Education and Guanghua International Education Association (GIEA), and undertook by Ya 'an Vocational and Technical College. Gu Zhanchun, Director of International Cooperation and Communication Department of Chinese Society of Vocational and Technical Education; Lin Ying, President of GIEA; Gong Lihua, Secretary-general of GIEA; Fan Xianmao, Vice President of Ya 'an Vocational and Technical College; as well as presidents and directors of nursing of more than 10 colleges in Sichuan attended this meeting.

      At the meeting, Fan Xianmao, Vice President of Ya 'an Vocational and Technical College gave a welcome speech. He extended a warm welcome to the participants, and said it was a good opportunity to gather together to discuss international nursing personal training through the platform built by Chinese Society of Vocational and Technical Education and Guanghua International Education Association. He mentioned that GIEA is an old friend of Ya 'an Vocational and Technical College, providing assistance for the development of Nursing over the years in the following aspects: students’ further study abroad; domestic high-quality employment for graduates; teachers’ training; foreign exchange for college leaders. Under the guidance of Chinese Society of Vocational and Technical Education, GIEA has developed the International Nursing Personnel Training Plan for nursing colleges. He pointed out that it was important to train the international nursing personnel. He hoped that under the guidance of Chinese Society of Vocational and Technical Education, we can cultivate excellent nursing talents to meet the developmental needs in our country and also hoped that other colleges can learn a lot from this meeting.

         Subsequently, Gu Zhanchun, Director of International Cooperation and Communication Department of Chinese Society of Vocational and Technical Education, gave a detailed introduction about the policy of Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Education of Ministry of Education and the national policies towards professional teaching reform. He mentioned that it was important to promote vocational education meeting international standards, introduce foreign high-quality curriculum resources, promote the internationalization of professional teaching through the informational teaching methods and realize the internationalization of vocational education. He also valued the importance of international nursing personal training, and highly praised the International Nursing Personnel Training Plan. He said it was a good plan to meet the situation of Chinese nursing and to promote the internationalization of China's vocational education. As nursing developed relatively slow in China, he pointed out that it was time to carry out nursing curriculum reform, the plan proposed by GIEA, to solve the existing problem of nursing.

       Then, Lin Ying, President of GIEA, gave an analysis of the necessity of international talent training and the current requirement of nursing talents at home and abroad. She mentioned how to solve the problem of international nursing personnel training through the internationalization course. She also pointed out the following issues: foreign-related nursing talents cultivation in China; the lack of dual/bilingual, international nursing teachers; lack of simulation, scenario and case teaching method; lack of informational teaching platform and content; lack of the research and comparative of various countries’ nursing courses; lack of the practice in international institutes and foreign exchange experience.

        In order to solve the problem of nursing: the lack of geriatric nursing and teaching resources; the weakness in teacher-related strength; the old nursing teaching materials and tools; the single teaching model; the lack of innovation, etc., under the support of the Chinese Society of Vocational and Technical Education, GIEA will introduce the course of nursing, senior care and international nursing.

        In the afternoon, the participating colleges had a deep discussion regarding the morning session, and agreed that the International Nursing Personnel Training Plan can help develop the channel of international mutual recognition of credits for students. It can provide the interactive teaching platform to communicate with foreign teachers for nursing teachers and also promote the teaching reform for colleges and broaden the international vision of professional teaching. This conference ended successfully.
