On March 17-18, 2012, Zhang Yafeng, Director of Guanghua International Nursing Research Center, was invited to Chuxiong Medical College to carry out “common abilities for nursing training” for teachers and students. The school leaders such as: Secretary Yang Hongren, President Wang Xiaoming, Vice President Zan Xuefeng, He Biao, Director of Admission and Employment Office, and Xiong Jincheng, Director of Academic Affairs Office, etc. attended this training. More than forty teachers and more than ten students participated in the training.

During the two days of training, the Director of Guanghua International Nursing Research Center, Zhang Yafeng gave an introduction on a nursing common ability’s standard, training, and evaluation method for school leaders, teachers, and students. He also analyzed the significance of nursing personnel common ability training, and introduced the localization method for the foreign teaching pattern – “Common Ability Course Template" and "Course Homework Design Standard". The introduction of the teaching tool "Course Homework" effectively combined nursing requirements with nursing teaching. Through finishing the course homework, the common ability and post competence of students can be improved. Afterwards, Zhang Yafeng led the school leaders, teachers, and students to participate in the practice of finishing and designing course homework. The school leaders, teachers, and students actively participated in the training.

During the training, Director Zhang had a deep discussion on Sino-foreign nursing training with school leaders and teachers. He considered that domestic nursing training in practical teaching should be based on the "point" basis, and then gradually form into a "face" design; as well as, design appropriate “homework” according to the characteristics of different teaching subjects. He also mentioned reserving the essence of advanced teaching philosophy on the transformation of localization. At the end of the training, Secretary Yang Hongren concluded that schools should train the nursing personnel to meet the requirements of the market, encourage teachers to accept new teaching ideas, and learn teaching methods on common abilities for student training and combine them with the actual teaching situation. It was also mentioned to start from small things, and pay more attention to training students’ skills.

The relevant departments of the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education pay high attention to the Common Abilities for Nursing Training Project. The participant teachers who passed the exam will receive a certificate issued by Health Ministry Personnel Exchange Service Center. Guanghua International Nursing Research Center has been committed to promoting nursing education reform, integrating education resources, and place high emphasis on teacher training and teaching quality improvement. The participant school leaders and teachers expressed that through learning and discussing the training, they had a deep understanding of the project, course system, and training pattern. From this discussion they stated that they would like to take part in training in the future to improve the internal auditing system.
