On October 17th-18th, 2011, the eighth Sino-foreign Nursing Cooperation and Development Annual Conference was held in Beijing by China Guanghua Nurse Fund. This conference invited Health Ministry, British Council, Chinese Nursing Association and other relevant institutions at home and abroad and about one hundred medical colleges’ representatives to attend. It was not only provided an cooperation and communication platform for Sino-foreign nursing education, but also provided strategic ideas for the reform and development of nursing education.

This conference invited the deputy Secretary-General of China Guanghua Foundation, Chad Rong, assistant director of Health Ministry Talent Communication Center, Cui Xia, Chinese Nursing Association’s director Li Xiuhua, chairman of the 2012 European Union for Nursing Education Annual Conference and Nottingham university’s professor Carol Hall, British University Health College’s dean, England representative of GIEA and vice president of Hertfordshire University Health and Human Sciences College Lyn Karstadt, the manager of Edexcel National Vocational Qualification and Academic Examination Institution in North Asia and China, Gao Jianjun to attend the opening ceremony and deliver a speech.

The vice director of China Guanghua Nurse Fund, Lin Ying gave a speech on the topic-- Work Together to Promote the Development of Nursing-enterprise at the meeting. She introduced Guanghua Nurse Fund’s history, nursing’s development and the policy change of nursing education, and gave a detailed analysis of the current situation of nursing and how to face the existing problems and put forward the strategy to solve the problem. Futhermore, she advocated that in order to promote the development of nursing profession jointly, we should break the gap between industries, colleges, schools and enterprises, regions, as well as realize the resource sharing and win-win cooperation.

On October 17th, in the afternoon, according to the development and use of nursing talents, Renmin University of China’s professor Liu Xin gave a speech on the study of “Influence of Hospital Human Resources System Reengineering Hospital Level on Medical Schools”. Professor Cai Wenzhi, vice President of Southern Medical University, and professor Ruan Hong, the ninth People’s Hospital Nursing Department of Shanghai Jiaotong University’s director, respectively made special reports on the stratified use of nurse, and the establishment and practice of hospital nursing education system. The dean of Peking University Nursing College, professor Guo Guifang gave a detailed introduction on the setting of course teaching objectives for colleges’ cooperation. Afterwards, the foreign leaders of Nottingham University, Andrews University, France Public Health Advanced Research School, Glasgow Caledonian University, British University, Worcester University and other foreign colleges, respectively introduced their own nursing education to the participants, and hoped to learn from each other and develop together with domestic medical colleges.

On October 18th, Guanghua Nurse Fund’s chairman Lin and Guanghua International Nursing Development Research Center’s director Zhang held the project communication meeting with representatives of attending Chinese universities and colleges. At the meeting, the representatives speaked actively, looked into the projects and hoped to carry out as soon as possible. At the same time, the Senior Nursing Talent Training Project Meeting hosted by Guanghua Nurse Fund’s Secretary-General Ms.Gong was under way. The Chinese and British colleges’ leaders and representatives had a heated discussion on the training direction and exchange of nursing personnel.
