In recent years, the World Health Organization (WHO)has namedvisual impairment, cancer, and cardiovascular disease as the three largest disorders affecting the quality of life in humans. With China's social and economic development, improving people's living standards has become increasinglyimportant. This not only gives the optometry technology development a new meaning, but Optometry professionals will have new training requirements.
To advance the field of Optometry training, on June 16-17, 2013,the Chinese vocational education association, Fujian province, China classification society, Taiwan management of the private Kejida School Association, bright China International Education Association, United Kingdom Glasgow University of California co-organised the"2013 Cross-Strait Education Cooperation and Development Forum" held in Xiamen, Fujian. This Forum convened during the fifth Straits Forum with the theme "the optometry field--new horizons", aimed to develop a broader perspectiveof personnel training in vocational education in the field of optometry, to discussthe development model of vocational education in the field of optometry, and to promote overall improvements and rapid development to optometry and optometric technology.
The original national NPC Standing Committee, and Chinese vocational education social Deputy, Chairman Li Chongan presided over: Fujian CPPCC Deputy President, and Fujian province Chinese vocational education social Director, Guo Zhenjia; and Taiwan private Kejida school homes Association, Chairman Ge Zixiang; Ministry of education Deputy Minister, Lu Xin; and Taiwan "policy consultant", and Taiwan education university system President,-JI, in the Forum who gave an important speech to experts from the United Kingdom and Taiwan and including altogether more than 180 optometry experts from academic and vocational schools.
The forum was divided into two units, the academic reporting unit and the school leaders across the Taiwan Straits Exchange unit. The academic reporting unit, have come from the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Shanghai, and Xiamen,Tianjin, Wenzhou, and other leading colleges and business enterprisesand they published a wonderful speech,introducing the respective profession of optometry, optometry health services and training of clinical diagnosis professionals, the exploration of high vocational technology reform and "medical--workers together"and optometry technology innovation. In the ensuing discussion, all delegates who participated in the "Cross-Strait Cooperation and Exchanges in Higher Vocational Education and Optometry Development, Professional Development” and “Cross-Strait Exchanges and Cooperation,"had enthusiastic discussions on the two topics.
The Forum provided great motivation to cross-strait exchanges and academic seminars on vocational education, and has won the unanimous approval all of the delegates.
