2. Course Objectives 课程目标
       To update qualified nurses for their role in the surgical theatre environment,

       To establish the fundamental principles of caring for a patient undergoing sedation, general, regional or local anaesthesia for a surgical procedure.

To broaden learners’ knowledge and understanding of the many facets of working within UK healthcare, for consideration with their country’s practices, and current developments in surgical and theatre practice.
较之各国学生在本国的实践经验，拓宽学生在英国护理机构学习期间知识领域与理解，以及提高现有外科手术环境下的实践。
3. Course Contents 课程内容
Topics covered will include the preparation and use of anaesthetic equipment to meet the needs of the patient undergoing anaesthesia, including anaesthetic machines, breathing circuits and airway management devices. Management of the airway in the unconscious / sedated patient will be studied as well as anaesthetic related pharmacology. Students will examine fluid balance monitoring including the appropriate care of any catheters, drains, and surgical dressings. The impact of anaesthetic procedures on the recovering patient and the importance of appropriate physiological monitoring will also be studied, along with a range of invasive and non-invasive anaesthetic monitoring equipment such as temperature, pulse, ECG, blood pressure, SaO2, and respirations; to provide a basis for relating physiological observations to perioperative patient care. The systematic assessment tools that may be related to effective patient management leading to appropriate intervention and support through to safe inter/intra hospital transfer of patients will also be discussed.

The short course will also provide a general overview of new roles and consider some of the legal, ethical and professional challenges within the clinical setting. The current agenda in relation to patient safety, such as Human Factors, Never Events, 5 Steps to Safer Surgery will be discussed along with rates, incidence and reporting systems of surgical site infections. Drivers that influence UK-based surgical theatre work and perioperative practice; such as the National Institute for Clinical Excellence Guidelines and National Confidential enquiry into Perioperative Deaths will also be explored to highlight trends and advances in perioperative care.

5. Course Schedules 课程安排
Students will become familiar with using the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (Blackboard) within the first 2 weeks; the University will support this learning. Students will use distance learning materials on Blackboard (BB) to update and prepare for the attendance part of the course. It is expected that around 1 hour a day will be needed to work through the distance learning material and you will need to supplement this with directed further reading during these first 2 weeks. Different people learn at different rates, and pre-existing knowledge will influence how many hours you will need to complete this distance learning.

An indicative first week of the attendance part of the short course is given below; each day is a full day’s study with comfort breaks and a lunch break of around 1 hour. The final part of the short course is completed in China, in part to reduce accommodation costs and mainly to allow students to consider in depth the application of their learning in England to their workplace in China.
短期培训第一周实践课如下：每天全天学习，搭配舒适的休息环境和一小时的午休。培训的最后阶段将在中国完成，为的是减少住宿成本以及使学生更深入地考虑如何将英国所学到的理论应用到中国的工作环境中去。
